Dress Guidelines for
Volunteers ~ MCI and NCC Concord
The following guidelines should be followed for volunteers at MCI or NCC
Concord:
1. Clothing should fit loosely—no spandex or clinging or tight-fitting knits.
Female visitors
must wear a bra.
2. No jeans, sweatpants, shorts, or stirrup pants are to be worn.
3. No elasticized waistbands unless tightly stitched. If you could
possibly squeeze some item in the
waistband, it won’t be allowed.
4. Wear shoes that are safe, comfortable, and functional for the program
you are participating in. No
open-toed shoes/sandals. Socks or stockings
must be worn.
5. No jewelry is allowed with the exception of a wedding band.
6. No short skirts, dresses, or skorts (culottes). These dress items can
be no shorter than 2” above the
knee.
7. No dresses or skirts with slits more than 3” above the knee.
[Think twice
before wearing an item with any slits above the knee!]
8. No wrap-around skirts.
9. No tank tops, see-through tops, low-cut tops, casual T-shirts, or
sweatshirts bearing logos.
10. Men must wear a shirt with a collar.
11. No fatigue or camouflage clothing or cargo pants.
Volunteers should wear attire that reflects professionalism and common
sense. If clothing is appropriate for a nightclub or the beach, you
should question its appropriateness for the institutional workplace.
